The Piatt County Historical & Genealogical Society was organized in 1980 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Society’s library and research space is located in the Piatt County Office Building (formerly the Old Kirby Hospital) in Monticello, Illinois.
Monthly meetings are held quarterly (March, June, September, and December), on the first Tuesday of those months at 7:00 p.m. at the Piatt County Offices Building. A greeter will direct you to the room where the meeting will take place. Programs are normally presented at the meetings on topics of interest pertaining to history and genealogy. The public is welcome and parking is free.
Our Mission: The Society members strive to learn about and preserve the history of Piatt County for future generations. Members copy, index and make available many local records. The Society encourages donations of family records, church and school records, abstracts, old newspapers and military records. We also urge everyone to donate copies of their researched material in paper or electronic form.
