The Society library holds a wealth of research materials, including but not limited to:
- Local Newspapers
- Local Census Records
- Index Card Files (thousands of cards with notes or news clipping on anniversaries, marriages, births, deaths, etc.)
- Historic County Court Records (no birth, death or marriage records)
- Family Files
- Military Records
- Piatt County Cemetery Lists
- Books from nearby Illinois counties and some states

POLICIES
Our volunteers will gladly help you with your research while you are in our library (no fees) or they can do the research for you if can’t travel to our library (fees).
Queries can be published in the Quarterly. Please let us know if you would like your query published.
Providing known details and asking specific questions in your request will aid us in completing your research.
RATES (If we do the research for you)
Simple Lookup – Free (less than a half an hour of research; email or phone response only)
Regular Research fees – $10.00 per hour
Copy fees – are 15 cents for members and 20 cents for non-members
Postage – current postal rates will be added for large projects
Please let us know ahead of time if you have any spending limits. We will send an invoice detailing your charges. Please make checks payable to: Piatt Co. Hist. & Gen. Society.
